England has announced the squad for the upcoming tour of India and the Champions Trophy. It is a bold move by the management because there is still a lot of time to go for the tournament. 1) Sam Curran
England does not have a single left-arm pacer in the squad. Someone like Sam Curran would have been useful to the team. However, it appears that Brendon McCullum has a different vision for the pace unit. Curran’s recent dip in form could have also been a reason why he has not been selected for the mega-event.
2) Will Jacks is not in England’s squad for the ICC 2025 Champions Trophy
Will Jacks is one of the players unlucky to miss out on England’s squad for the ICC 2025 Champions Trophy. The all-rounder played for England in the recent ODIs. However, he has not found a spot for the upcoming tournament. Joe Root is back in the side and he could bat at No.3. Phil Salt and Ben Duckett are likely to be the openers.
3) Rehan Ahmed
Adil Rashid will be the only genuine spinner in the team. Pakistan could have a few tracks that could support spinners. Backups are anyways needed in the team. Hence, it is surprising to see Rehan miss out on the team. Now, Joe Root, Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethell will have to assist Rashid in the spin department.
