On Saturday, BCCI announced the Indian Team for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Here, we take a look at the list of three players unlucky to miss out on India‘s 2025 Champions Trophy squad.
As expected, there were a few surprises by the management. Some players had to miss the squad for the event which is happening after a gap of eight years.
1) Mohammed Siraj
It is actually shocking to see that Mohammed Siraj did not make it to the Champions Trophy side. He has been one of the best Indian pacers in the ODI format in recent years. Especially with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami having injury issues, it was a bit surprising to see Siraj not get a spot.
2) Sanju Samson is unlucky to miss out on India’s 2025 Champions Trophy squad
Sanju Samson is one of the players unlucky to miss out on India’s 2025 Champions Trophy squad. Yet again, Sanju Samson had to make way for Rishabh Pant to an ICC mega-event squad. This time around, though, it had more to do with the Indian middle-order, which had too many right-handers. Having Sanju Samson would have left no choice of variety to the side. Hence, Pant was a necessary selection.
3) Karun Nair
Despite being at his best in the domestic events, Karun Nair failed to get a chance in the squad. Yes, it would have been an unfair call to drop someone like Shreyas Iyer. However, at the same time, not every year does someone maintain an average of 752 at the domestic tournament. Hence, Karun is on this list.
