IPL is very close to becoming two decades old. Yet, there are players who have been part of the history of the league. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players who are representing the same franchise in IPL 2008 and IPL 2024.
While some players stayed on with the same team, a few went to a different team before coming back to their first franchise. We take a look at the names of the players here:
1) MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni was the costliest player at IPL 2008 Auctions. He played for CSK for the majority of the competition. However, for two years, when CSK was banned from the competition, MS Dhoni played for Rising Pune Supergiants. After that stint, MSD has been with CSK and he has been winning trophies almost every alternate year. IPL 2024, though, could be his last in the competition.
2) Virat Kohli will represent the same franchise in IPL 2008 and IPL 2024
No player has represented one franchise for as long as Virat Kohli has done. He was a teenager back then and is now the highest run-getter in the league. You could say that the partnership with RCB has been mutual. The franchise helped him grow as a cricketer and the franchise also benefited from his skills and his off-screen brand value.
3) Rishi Dhawan
Rishi Dhawan is one of the players who are representing the same franchise in IPL 2008 and IPL 2024. Not many know that Rishi Dhawan was a part of the then Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2008. However, he did not play a single game. Later, he represented teams such as Mumbai Indians before he played for India. Now, he is back at Punjab and was retained ahead of IPL 2024.
