MS Dhoni will sit out for a few games in IPL 2026 due to an injury. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who can replace MS Dhoni in the CSK playing XI until he returns.
It will be a big blow for CSK. He adds experience to the side and with him not behind the stumps, it will be interesting to see how CSK would perform.
1) Kartik Sharma
Now, Kartik Sharma is sure to feature in the playing XI. He is a young cricketer and replacing MS Dhoni would be a tough ask. But, he has the potential to do wonders and hence, he is on the list. He could come in as the finisher or could come up even higher with Shivam Dube slotting in as the finisher.
2) Urvil Patel is one of the players who can replace MS Dhoni in the CSK playing XI until he returns
CSK does not have a spot for him in the top-order. However, Urvil is a big-hitter and now has a chance to play at least at No.6 or No.7. He is in good form and CSK could consider giving him a challenge. If he does well, it would be great for CSK going forward. CSK will want the Gujarat cricketer to do well in this regard for the side.
3) Sarfaraz Khan
The Mumbai batter would rather prefer a role in the top-order. He is good against spin and hence, that would be more suitable for him. With Dewald Brevis unlikely to play in the first few games, the role could be clear for Sarfaraz, as well. He could operate in the middle overs. If he does well, he can retain his spot when the other players return from their injury lay-offs. Hence, he is on this list.
