If there is no mega-auction before IPL 2025, teams might make some smart moves in IPL 2024. Here, we take a look at three players who could be a replacement player in IPL 2024 if there is no mega-auction before IPL 2025.
In the past, we have seen teams signing players such as Tristan Stubbs and Rajat Patidar as replacement signings although it was not a like-to-like replacement for the injured player. It was more of picking a player in the open market so that he could be useful for the next seasons. Some teams could make a similar move in IPL 2024.
1) Phil Salt
It was a surprise that Phil Salt missed out on the IPL 2024 Auctions. Nevertheless, considering his form and the fact that he can keep wickets, he would surely be in the eye of many teams. If there are injuries at teams such as KKR or GT, they can pick him as a replacement so that he can be useful beyond IPL 2024.
2) Josh Hazlewood could be a replacement player in IPL 2024
Hazlewood would be available for the last few weeks of IPL 2024. He would be the ideal replacement for any injured fast bowler. The advantage is that he would be available for the team for IPL 2025, as well. He would come at a low price compared to the amount he could have gone had he gone under the hammer.
3) Jake Fraser-McGurk
Jake Fraser-McGurk is one of the players who could be a replacement player in IPL 2024 if there is no mega-auction before IPL 2025. One of the rising stars in BBL is Jake Fraser-McGurk. Recently, he scored a List-A century in just 29 balls. He is filled with talent and he could be a big name by IPL 2025. Hence, one or two teams could sign him as a replacement player. Of course, the player also has to agree here.
