Sanju Samson is in trouble after his displays against New Zealand. The recent game in Trivandrum might have shut doors on him, although a good display in the IPL could help him. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who could replace Sanju Samson after the 2026 T20 World Cup.
India would anyway want to invest in a younger cricketer at the top of the order. Hence, Sanju could be dropped from the setup after the 2026 T20 WC.
1) Yashasvi Jaiswal
Ideally, Jaiswal should have been a part of the squad now. He is unlucky but post the World Cup, the selectors must have him in the scheme of things. The player also must do well in IPL 2026 to cement his spot.
2) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is one of the players who could replace Sanju Samson after the 2026 T20 World Cup
If the selectors are willing to take up a project, this could mean Vaibhav debuts for India. He is a teenager, and there is plenty of potential in him to become a superstar for Team India. It would be a risky approach but if it comes off, it would bode well for India in the next decade.
3) Prabhsimran Singh
The Punjab cricketer would be a like-for-like replacement for Sanju Samson. He offers value behind the stumps and on his day, the PBKS opener could take the game away from the opposition in a few overs. He also has the relevant experience to do well for India in a short period of time.
