BCCI announced the squad for the first Test against Bangladesh. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who could struggle to make a comeback after getting dropped for the Bangladesh series.
India’s last Test assignment was against England. Many players were dropped for the Bangladesh assignment. Some of them could struggle to return to the squad due to various reasons.
1) KS Bharat
Dhruv Jurel took KS Bharat‘s spot in the Indian XI in the England series. He did well and cemented his spot. Now that Rishabh Pant is back, KS Bharat has gone further down in the pecking order. The likes of Abishek Porel and Ishan Kishan have also been doing well. Hence, it looks gleam for Bharat to make a comeback.
2) Mukesh Kumar was dropped for the Bangladesh series
Mukesh Kumar is one of the players who could struggle to make a comeback after getting dropped for the Bangladesh series. The West Bengal pacer did get a few chances against England. However, he was not able to make the best use of it. Now, it appears that Akash Deep and Yash Dayal are ahead of him on the pecking order. Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna will return from injuries while there are also options such as Harshit Rana and Avesh Khan.
3) Devdutt Padikkal
Having a bad IPL could lead to a change in the way a player is seen. DDP did well in his debut game and has actually been decent in the longer format. However, his bad IPL form might cause him to stay away from the squad. Sarfaraz Khan has grabbed his chances and with even Shreyas Iyer out of the squad, DDP will take it long before he makes a comeback.
