The ongoing IPL 2024 is just a couple of matches away from becoming the new champion of this season. Kolkata Knight Riders are in the final, and they will face the winner of Qualifier 2 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals on Friday. Until now, seven teams have been eliminated from the competition and will join next year.
There have been some teams that used every player they had in their squad during the tournament, while there were a few teams that didn’t use many players. Hence, here we will talk about such players who didn’t get many chances and spent the season without doing anything. They earned crores of Indian rupees for doing nothing.
Here are three players who earned 5 crore or more for warming the bench
1. Jhye Richardson – 5 Crore (Delhi capitals)
The Australian pacer entered the IPL 2024 auction with a base price of INR 1.5 crore. Delhi capitals bought the pacer at a price of INR 5 crore. Richardson warmed the bench for most of the season, apart from one game. He played one match against Mumbai Indians, didn’t pick up a wicket, and gave up 40 runs. He earned 5 crore for one game.
2. Shubham Dubey – 5.8 crore (Rajasthan Royals)
Shubham Dubey made headlines when he was sold in the IPL 2024 auction. He entered with an INR 20 lakh base price, and Rajasthan Royals bought him for a whopping INR 5.8 crore. But he didn’t have chances as per his price. Dubey was among the impact player options and got three chances where he scored 0, 25, and 8*. Rest; he earned this huge amount without making much contribution.
3. Kumar Kushagra – 7.2 crore (Delhi Capitals)
Kumar Kushagra became the talk of the town when Delhi Capitals bought him at a price of INR 7.2 crore. He was one of the costliest uncapped Indian players at the IPL 2024 auction. But DC didn’t use him to his full potential. Apart from featuring on the impact player list, Kushagra got a chance to bat in three innings. He scored 2, 1 and 0, for a total of three runs in three innings. Though it will be harsh on the youngster but he ended up earning 7.2 crore for three runs in the IPL 2024.
