Usually, players are not sold for big money in the later part of the auctions. However, some players were lucky with both money and a good opportunity.
1) Rilee Rossouw – Punjab Kings
Rilee Rossow’s name when it came for the first time was met with no interest at all. Considering his recent form is not great, many expected him to go unsold. However, when he came back again, Rossoow was a hot cake. There was a bidding war and eventually, he got sold to PBKS at INR 8 Cr. There were many first-choice players who did not see such a sum. He would now be the direct replacement for the likes of Liam Livingstone in the side.
2) Mujeeb Ur Rahman – Kolkata Knight Riders
Mujeeb Ur Rahman is one of the players who got second-time lucky in IPL 2024 Auctions. With his base price set at INR 2 Cr, not many teams would have gone for him. However, considering KKR needed a backup for Sunil Narine, they had to spend on Mujeeb although his base price was high. Therefore, the Afghan is also on this list.
3) Manish Pandey – Kolkata Knight Riders
Yes, he might have earned just INR 50L but Manish was lucky to be picked by KKR. His form in recent times has not been great. Also, he is not the greatest player of spin. Yet, he got picked by KKR, a team that plays at Eden Gardens, which is expected to turn a lot. Nevertheless, Manish is a good candidate as a backup batter for the strong Indian batting core at KKR.
