Before the 2022 T20 World Cup, Mohammed Shami came into the Indian Team when Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out. This is despite him not having played a T20I for a year. We could have similar occurrences before the upcoming 2023 ODI WC, especially because many are injured right now. Here, we take a look at three players who might enter the Indian Team just before the 2023 ODI World Cup.
1) Prasidh Krishna
The Indian pace attack needs some options in the next few months. Apart from Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah when he is fit, the other option that India has is Mohammed Shami. While the likes of Shardul Thakur and Umran Malik are being explored to get into this attack, Prasidh Krishna is also a fine option. He has multiple qualities that would fit this attack. Therefore, once he is fit, there is a chance that he could be drafted straight into the setup.
2) Rajat Patidar
Rajat Patidar is one of the players who might enter the Indian Team just before the 2023 ODI World Cup. The Indore-based cricketer is yet to make his debut but he is still seen is one of the better middle-order white-ball options in the country. There are the likes of Sanju Samson and SKY waiting on the sidelines with Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul set to be the first-choice options. However, if there is an injury, Patidar, who is currently nursing his injury, can get an opportunity.
3) Rishabh Pant
As per reports, BCCI is looking to make Pant fit before the 2023 ODI World Cup. It would be a risk but if it comes off, it would help India a lot with a brilliant option in the middle-order. India would have a proper left-handed batter in the middle-order and the wicket-keeper slot will also be sorted. Even Pant might want to make a comeback to the Indian Team. This is because he will have to wait for 4 more years for his next WC campaign.
