SA20 2025 will start in a few months. Most of the franchises have made their pre-auction signings. Unlike the IPL, the SA20 organizers allow the teams to sign players outside the auction as well. There are several big names of world cricket, who will play in this tournament.
As all fans would know, all six teams of SA20 are sister franchises of IPL owners. The names of the teams are the same, but the cities where they are based out are different. Still, their fanbase is pretty much the same. Some players are the same as well, but here’s a list of three players who will play for their IPL rival’s team in SA20 2025.
1. Gujarat Titans star Kane Williamson will play for Durban’s Super Giants in SA20 2025
Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants joined the IPL in the year 2022. Both teams made an instant impact, and they even qualified for the playoffs in the first two seasons. They have had a solid rivalry in the IPL so far.
Kane Williamson has been a member of the Gujarat Titans in the last two seasons. While GT do not have a team in SA20, Williamson has inked a deal with Durban’s Super Giants.
2. Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes has played for three franchises in his IPL career, namely Rising Pune Supergiant, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. His longest stay was at RR, while his most recent stint was with the Super Kings.
All three IPL teams have a common rival, namely Mumbai Indians. Now, Stokes will turn up for the MI Cape Town team in SA20.
3. Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis is a former Chennai Super Kings player, but since 2022, he has been the captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team in IPL. In fact, in IPL 2024, RCB knocked CSK out of the tournament in a nail-biting thriller at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Now, Faf is set to wear the yellow jersey and play the captain’s role for CSK’s sister franchise Joburg Super Kings in SA20.
