IPL Salaries had some major changes ahead of the 2023 season. The Indian Premier League auction happened last Saturday in Kochi, where the fate of more than 400 players was decided by the 10 IPL franchises. There were 87 vacant places in the squads of the 10 teams.

A total of 80 names earned contracts from the 10 franchises. Some players received high IPL salaries, while others received low value deals. Some players also remained unsold at the auction. Fans would remember that the last auction was a mega one, which happened in February 2022, and franchises thought a lot before bidding for any player in that auction.

The same trend was not seen in 2023 as the franchises bid aggressively for the players they wanted and showed readiness to play huge IPL salaries. In this listicle now, we will look at the three names whose salaries received an enormous hike.

    1. Nicholas Pooran

Former West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran bagged a contract worth 10.75 crore from the SunRisers Hyderabad at the mega auction. Pooran could not justify his price tag, which is why SRH let him go. Pooran performed excellently in the recently-concluded Abu Dhabi T10 League, leading the Deccan Gladiators to the championship.

    2. Sam Curran

England all-rounder Sam Curran’s salary in his last IPL season was 5.5 crore. Chennai Super Kings paid that amount for his services in the 2021 season. He missed IPL 2022 due to injury issues but was back in the pool for 2023 auction. Punjab Kings went all out for him and roped in him for 18.5 crore.

    3. Mukesh Kumar

Uncapped Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar worked as a net bowler for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022. DC picked him up for INR 5.75 crore at this year’s auction.
