The competition for spots in Team India, especially in the shorter formats is extremely intense. While IPL is seen as one of the stepping platforms for a spot in the T20I team, despite doing well in IPL, a few players have not got a chance in Team India. These players, on the other hand, have done well in other formats. 1) Shubman Gill
Most of the youngsters around his age have played T20I cricket but Gill is yet to play T20Is. However, he has cemented his place in the Test Team and within a few years, will be a confirmed spot in the playing XI. Having done well in IPL 2022, Gill will also push for a spot in the Indian Team. The next few IPL seasons will play a crucial role in this.
2) Wriddhiman Saha
Wriddhiman Saha is one of the popular players you might not know who has not played T20I cricket for India so far. Although Saha is known as a specialist in the Test format, it is a surprise that he has not played T20I cricket. Back when MS Dhoni was there, not many backups were available for him then. Despite doing well in seasons such as in IPL 2014, Saha never got to play for India in this format.
3) Mayank Agarwal
Mayank Agarwal is the captain of Punjab Kings in IPL. Yet, interestingly, Mayank has not played T20I cricket for India. He was selected for the squad but never got a chance in playing XI. However, he has played in ODIs although it has lasted only for five games so far. Mayank has lost his place in Tests as well right now. He will target a comeback with a strong show in the Ranji Trophy.
