The franchise had an average outing at the auctions. They could pull off some steals while they overspent on certain cricketers. The IPL 2024 champions also missed out on some key names at the final moment.
1) Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami was one of the players whom KKR made the move for in the recent auctions. The pacer would have been the perfect experienced addition to the side. Last season, Mitchell Starc did this job. However, KKR wanted an Indian name and hence, went after Shami, who also hails from Bengal. In the end, SRH signed the cricketer.
2) Phil Salt could have been one of the KKR cricketers in IPL 2025
Phil Salt is one of the prominent cricketers KKR lost out on the final bid at IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. The English cricketer was superb for KKR in IPL 2024. However, the franchise could not retain him. Nevertheless, they went hard for him at the auctions. RCB wanted him more and hence, KKR lost out on him.
3) Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi had a fine stint when he last played for KKR. He is a top No.3 and KKR wanted him back for the role. However, CSK were interested in him and they had a better budget at that time. Also, KKR had some other options, as well, for the role. Eventually, Ajinkya Rahane joined the side.
