DDP was dropped from the XI to have B Sai Sudharsan. However, with Sai not at his best and with DDP doing well, there is a chance that the tall left-hander makes a return to the side. With the form that he is in, it is ideal for him to take the No.3 role. If he can cement his spot, India would have some stability here for the future. 2) Mohammed Shami is one of the Ranji Trophy performers who could come back into the Indian Test XI
Fitness was an issue for Mohammed Shami to make a return to the Indian Team. Yes, India needs to prepare for the future, but it must ensure that the transition is smooth and seamless. The likes of Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna have potential, but they need more time. Hence, involving someone like Shami for a few more tournaments would help the side. He has been consistently collecting wickets, and with more than 35 scalps for Bengal, he deserves a return to the setup.
