Former CSK batter Subramaniam Badrinath has sparked a discussion on X by posting an edited picture of Rohit Sharma in the Chennai Super Kings jersey. There have been rumors of another mega trade happening before IPL 2024, but no details have been revealed on social media about the same.

Fans have been speculating that Rohit Sharma could leave Mumbai Indians for Chennai Super Kings because MI sacked him as the captain. Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh even left a yellow heart in the comments box of CSK’s post for the former MI captain.

While it would be great to see Rohit playing under the captaincy of MS Dhoni again, here are three reasons why CSK should not sign him in the trade window.

    1. No place for Rohit Sharma in CSK top-order

Chennai Super Kings have a settled opening pair in the form of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ajinkya Rahane did a splendid job at number three as well. Hence, there is no vacant position in the top-order of CSK. They will have to disturb a settled top-order to accommodate the Hitman.

    2. 16 crore blocked

If Rohit Sharma moves from Mumbai Indians to Chennai Super Kings via trade, then his salary from the auction purse will be the same, meaning INR 16 crore. It will block a massive amount from Chennai’s purse. Instead, they can rope in a middle-order batter or an all-rounder, who can serve them for a longer period.

    3. Sharma is already 36 years old

While CSK tend to sign players aged 30, Sharma has already turned 36 and will celebrate his 37th birthday next April. He will play a maximum of two to three seasons only. Hence, investing such a big amount for his services may not be ideal for a franchise.
