While many thought Rohit and Virat would struggle in the 2023 ODI World Cup, they were top performers. Therefore, India must get more out of them before retirement.

    1) The simple reason that they are back in form

Team India had a vision but somehow, the top-order was not able to realize it until the World Cup started. However, during the event, Rohit and Virat stepped up big time. While Rohit applied pressure on the opposition with his quick starts, Virat Kohli carried the momentum and strengthened the foundation for the likes of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul to take over. A few tweaks and the duo could be ready to do the same in T20s, as well.

    2) 2023 ODI World Cup showed that experience is a must

The 2023 ODI World Cup showed clearly that experience is a must in an ICC event. It was visible for many teams such as Pakistan and Sri Lanka that lacked the cutting edge due to the lack of experienced cricketers. India must ensure that this does not happen to them next year. Hence, they can have both these players in the line-up and help the youngsters around them perform well. Hence, this is one of the reasons why India must consider Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

    3) The youngsters have not played a lot in West Indies before

West Indies and the USA will host the World Cup. The likes of Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have played there but it is not more than one tour. Pitches could be challenging and here is where experience counts. Also, in the USA, fans would love a glimpse of Virat and Rohit. This is one of the non-cricketing reasons to take them to the World Cup, as well.
