Streak played a pivotal role in the rise of Zimbabwean cricket team. The pace-bowling all-rounder played 65 Test matches and 189 ODI games for the African outfit. He scored almost 5,000 runs across the two formats of the game. Besides, Streak also bagged more than 400 wickets for the Zimbabwean side. Since his retirement, Zimbabwe has not had a match-winner like him, who can bowl pace and also contribute with the bat.

    1. Heath Streak has most wickets for Zimbabwe in international cricket

Streak holds the record for the highest wickets taken by a Zimbabwean bowler in international matches. He picked up total 455 wickets. In 189 ODI matches, he accounted for 239 wickets, whereas in the 65 Test appearances he made for Zimbabwe, Streak scalped 216 wickets.

    2. Most 5-wicket hauls for Zimbabwe in international cricket

There have been some exceptional talents to emerge from Zimbabwe, but no bowler has recorded more five-wicket hauls than Streak. During his international career, Streak registered eight five-wicket hauls. Seven out of those eight came in Tests, while he had one five-wicket haul in the ODI format as well.

    3. Highest wins for a Zimbabwean captain in Tests

Zimbabwe is not among the strongest Test-playing nations. ICC have not even considered them for the ICC World Test Championship. Winning a Test is a massive achievement for the African side, but under Streak’s leadership, they won four Test matches. They recorded two wins against Bangladesh in 2001, followed by a historic win against India. Zimbabwe recorded one more big win against Bangladesh in 2004.
