Opinions and perspectives could change after a long gap. Even the stakeholders could change and at times, a player might be forced to re-look at his decision. Hence, coming back from retirement is a possibility these days.

    1) David Willey – T20Is

It was a surprise when David Willey announced his retirement from all forms of the game recently. He is a quality player and can still offer so much to England. Considering he is just 33 years old, it would not be a surprise if England does convince him to get back to the squad. While Reece Topley is injury-prone, Sam Curran’s bowling form is not that great. Hence, there is still some vacancy for Willey.

    2) Quinton de Kock is one of the retired players in 2023 – ODIs

Quinton de Kock is one of the players in 2023 who can come back from retirement in 2024. South Africa will look to do well in the 2025 Champions Trophy. While there are talks that it could be turned into a T20 event, if it continues to be an ODI competition, the South African management could convince QDK to come back. Temba Bavuma is almost out of the setup and the others might need time. Hence, QDK’s experience is needed.

    3) Naveen-ul-Haq – ODIs

Naveen-ul-Haq has a conflict with the Afghanistan Cricket Board currently. In the end, it may not be a surprise if Naveen has to give in to the demands of ACB. This could also involve him taking back his retirement from ODIs. It would actually help Afghanistan considering Naveen is a quality pacer.
