With Ajinkya Rahane as the skipper, it is better if he opens the batting. Unless there is a completely aggressive opener like Salt, having a keeper-opener does not make sense. Here, we take a look at the list of three smart trade deals KKR must target to find a wicketkeeper for IPL 2026.
Not all holes could be plugged at the auctions. KKR must ensure that they go for a few trade deals which would make their job easier at the auctions for the next season.
1) Glenn Phillips from the Gujarat Titans
Phillips is not on a high salary, and that’s perfect for KKR. Of course, GT must be convinced to let go of the Kiwi. That said, even when Phillips was fit, he was not used by the side. In this regard, there is a chance for KKR to get Phillips as the keeper for the next season. However, as said earlier, it would be hard.
2) Vishnu Vinod from Punjab Kings is one of the trade deals KKR must target
It would be a perfect deal for KKR. Vishnu Vinod is only the backup for Prabhsimran Singh at PBKS. Vishnu is someone who can bat in the middle order and finish games for his side. This trait would be of great use to the franchise. This way, Rahane could bat up the order and Raghuvanshi could come in at No.3. The team can use an extra foreign batter, as well. Hence, Vishnu must be a target for KKR.
3) Donovan Ferreira from the Delhi Capitals
The South African cricketer is quite underrated. He is currently warming the bench at DC. A solid finisher, KKR must look to have him for the next season. He would be an upgrade over Rovman Powell, especially because he can keep wickets. He can also bowl off-spin, if required. Hence, he would be a suitable addition to the side.
