CSK decided to drop R Ashwin for the game against LSG. Here, we take a look at the list of three star Indians who could be dropped like Ashwin if their poor run continues in IPL 2025.
IPL franchises are now in desperate need of adding wins consistently. Hence, they cannot afford players to have a long run of poor outings, especially when there are some talented players on the bench. In this regard, a few players could have their ropes cut down if their poor run continues.
1) Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has not been at his best in IPL 2025. Punjab Kings need a spinner who can control the game in the middle overs. While Chahal is very much capable of that, he has not been able to do that so far. With PBKS needing to win consistently, they will expect Chahal to step up soon. If that does not happen, it would not be a surprise if someone like Pravin Dubey or Harpreet Brar gets a chance.
2) Mohammed Shami could be dropped like Ashwin in IPL 2025
Shami has been leaking runs at SRH. For an experienced Indian bowler like him, a better show is expected. Hence, it may not be a shock if SRH drops him if Shami is delivering the same spells. The likes of Jaydev Unadkat are on the bench. While they are not an upgrade, it is worth a shot to try one of these cricketers.
3) Rohit Sharma
It will be a massive call but it can happen. Rohit Sharma has had a tough run till now in the IPL. It has been the same in the last few years. MI cannot afford this poor consistency by their former skipper. If it continues, at some point, MI could drop the cricketer.
