India secured an easy win in the two-match Test series against the West Indies. Here, we take a look at the list of three strange decisions India took in the West Indies Test series.
Despite the opposition being relatively weak, surprisingly, India hardly took any risks. Of course, with the result at home last year, India could not afford too many experiments. However, it looked like they had a simple agenda for this series.
1) Playing Jasprit Bumrah for two home games
It was a major shock that India used Bumrah for two home games and that too against West Indies, a team that is not in great form. India could have used this series to add depth to the pace attack.
2) Not using Nitish Reddy as an all-rounder is one of the strange decisions India took in the West Indies Test series
It is clear that India wants to groom Nitish as a pace-bowling all-rounder. However, he hardly got to bowl in the Test series. Hence, it was a strange call to pick him.
3) Not using Axar Patel
It has been more than 18 months since Axar Patel has played a Test. Back then, he was one of the first names on the team sheet despite offering the same services as Ravindra Jadeja. He is a utility player and India must ensure that he has the games under his belt to improve the depth of the squad. Hence, it is surprising that he did not get a game.
