Australia will want to make a few changes for the next WTC Cycle. It is high time that these changes come into effect for the side. Or else, they could struggle to reach the finals in the next cycle.
1) Drop Usman Khawaja
It has been a while since Usman has been consistent at the top of the order. Considering his experience, Australia would have expected better from him in the finals. However, that did not happen. Now that Australia has lost the finals, it could be the right time to make the transition to the next generation. The likes of Sam Konstas could be an option in this regard.
2) Have specialist batters for the top-order roles
Ever since David Warner has retired, Australia has done a lot of experimentation with the top-order roles. Australia needs consistency here. Marnus Labuschagne opened in the WTC Final and Green played at No.3. Earlier, even the likes of Travis Head and Steve Smith have opened. Australia must get a regular opener and trust him to do the job.
3) Australia might consider youth for the bowling attack after the WTC Final Loss
The famous bowling trio is getting old. Therefore, it is worth considering to have some youngsters in the group. Even the reserve pacer Scott Boland is in the mid-thirties. Australia could consider this change.
