There are reports that Gautam Gambhir might leave Lucknow Super Giants before IPL 2024. Rumours of Justin Langer becoming the new Head Coach of LSG further fuels the likelihood of Gambhir leaving LSG. He would be an asset for any other franchise because of the experience he has in being a part of the Indian Premier League. Here, we take a look at the list of three teams that can target Gautam Gambhir as Head Coach if he leaves LSG.
1) Kolkata Knight Riders
It would be a no-brainer for KKR to approach Gambhir. The team needs someone who can drive his vision on to the field, something that has been missing over the years. Yes, Chandrakant Pandit was appointed recently but if Gambhir is available, it may not be a bad idea to relieve Pandit of his services. KKR can then look at the future with Gambhir at the helm.
2) Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the teams that can target Gautam Gambhir as Head Coach if he leaves LSG. SRH needs a strong presence in the backroom staff. As seen recently, this hole is affecting them with some crazy decisions being taken in recent times. Gambhir is someone who can assert authority and also bring in a good cricketing philosophy at the same time. Hence, SRH is on this list.
3) Punjab Kings
PBKS is desperate for a trophy and despite assembling a good squad, they are failing to qualify for the playoffs. Maybe, a final push is needed and this can come in the form of Gambhir’s passion to win games and tournaments. The franchise has also done the mistake of changing too many things in recent years. They need to back players and coaches and with someone like Gambhir in the backroom, this might be possible for the franchise.
