The mega events attract more viewership than any bilateral series because teams from different parts of the planet participate in these tournaments. There are special qualifying tournaments for every continent, and the top performing teams from each part of the world make it to the grand event.

It is tough for a new nation to remain consistent in cricket. The following three teams impressed in one of the ICC events but they soon disappeared from the grand stage.

    1. Kenya played in semifinals of ICC World Cup 2003

Africa played host to the World Cup in 2003. South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe were the three hosts, but the only African nation to qualify for the semifinals was Kenya. They played against India in the final four. Kenya played some fantastic cricket in that tournament, but after that, they hardly managed to win any matches in other events.

    2. Ireland qualified for Super 8s in ICC World Cup 2007

In the next edition of the global event, Ireland cricket team stunned the cricket universe by defeating former world champions Pakistan in the group stage. The Irish team even made it to the Super 8s, where they beat another Test-playing nation, Bangladesh. Although Ireland did record a few big wins in the 2011 and 2015 World Cups, they could not make it to the final eight. They even failed to qualify for 2019 World Cup.

    3. Nepal

Nepal participated in the T20 World Cup played in 2014. They played three matches and won two of them but missed out on a place in the Super 10s because their net run rate was inferior to Bangladesh. Since then, Nepal have never qualified for the T20 World Cup.
