MS Dhoni is one of the most successful players in IPL history. The Chennai Super Kings captain jointly owns the record for the most IPL trophies, having won five. He also has played the most matches in the league and is all set to play for CSK again in IPL 2024. Here’s what Michael Vaughan said about Dhoni last year:
“I don’t think there has been a better captain than Dhoni ever in T20 cricket across the board. You can argue MS Dhoni’s captaincy of spin is best across all formats,” said Vaughan.
While Dhoni has achieved almost everything possible in the IPL so far, here’s a list of four things which Thala has not yet achieved in the league.
1. MS Dhoni is yet to win Orange Cap in IPL
Dhoni has enormous batting talent, but he generally prefers batting down the order and playing in pressure situations. Since he does not face too many deliveries, Dhoni has never been able to win the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs in a season.
2. MS Dhoni is yet to score an IPL hundred
Dhoni has batted in 208 innings, but he is yet to score a century in the IPL. The internet will break if he scores a hundred in IPL 2024, but again, since he bats lower down the order, he does not get enough opportunities to face 50-60 balls in an innings.
3. Dhoni is yet to take a wicket in IPL
Dhoni picked up a wicket while playing for India in international cricket. He has also bowled once for Chennai Super Kings in a Champions League T20 match against Yorkshire, but he has never bowled a delivery in the IPL, which is why his wickets column also reads as zero. Perhaps, Dhoni can do it in IPL 2024?
