Usually, an unsold player used to find other competitions to play in the past. However, in recent times, we have the players take up broadcasting during the competition. With IPL now having commentators in various languages, this is becoming a possibility.
1) Kedar Jadhav could be one of the commentators in IPL 2024
In fact, Kedar Jadhav was a commentator before RCB picked him up as a replacement player last season. This time around, he could not make it to the final shortlist. Hence, his name never came under the hammer. He had also kept his base price at INR 2 Cr, which is high for a player at this stage of his career. He would now go back to being a commentator.
2) Steve Smith
Through hologram, Steve Smith was a part of the broadcast panel last season. This time around, he could come down and operate as a commentator. Firstly, he would want to remain close to the action in case some team wants to sign him as a replacement option. Anyways, at that time, there is no major tournament happening. Hence, Smith might as well be in India.
3) Hanuma Vihari
Hanuma Vihari is one of the unsold players in IPL 2024 Auctions who could work as commentators in IPL 2024. The batter did not find a contract in the IPL again. Nevertheless, he could work as a commentator provided his County committments do not clash. Vihari has done this in the recent past in the Telugu language.
