It is not new to see players coming out of retirement or a long period of being dropped just to play in the World Cup. 1. Shoaib Malik might play in T20 World Cup 2024
At the age of 41, Pakistan legend Shoaib Malik has confirmed that he is still available to play T20Is for the Men in Green. Speaking on A Sports during the 2023 World Cup coverage, Malik said:
“My goal is to score around 2000 runs to go past Chris Gayle to become the best player in T20 cricket. I am open to play, but clarity is needed. I am not playing cricket to represent Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup.“
2. Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle is the Universe Boss of T20 cricket. He is yet to officially retire from cricket. The left-handed batter might make a comeback for the T20 World Cup in 2024 because West Indies is a co-host of the mega event along with the USA.
3. Liam Plunkett
Liam Plunkett has not played international cricket after he won the 2019 World Cup Final with England. The right-arm fast bowler has moved to the United States now. He will be eligible to play for USA in T20 World Cup 2024 and can thus make a return at the age of 39.
