Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are not playing for India in any of the bilateral T20I matches right now. The two star bowlers of India’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign were rested for the series against Australia and South Africa. It seems highly unlikely that they will play against Afghanistan as well.

However, when the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 arrives, there is a big chance of both Bumrah and Shami coming back to the Indian squad. They are experienced match-winners, who did an incredible job with the ball in the 2023 World Cup.

Once Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami come back into the side, the following three young Indian pacers, who have been playing in bilateral matches may not get a chance to play.

    1. Deepak Chahar may not play when Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami return

Pace-bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar has been included in the squad for the ongoing away T20I series against South Africa. However, when the likes of Bumrah, Shami and even Hardik Pandya come back for the World Cup, Chahar may not get a place.

    2. Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan has emerged as a wicket-taking bowler for India in the white-ball formats. He received a chance to play for India recently, but when the T20 World Cup arrives, India will need a better option, which Shami and Bumrah can provide.

    3. Arshdeep Singh

Despite being a regular part of the team, Arshdeep Singh could miss the flight to the West Indies because the pace trio will likely feature Bumrah, Shami and Mohammed Siraj. If India need a left-arm option desperately, then they can consider Singh, but otherwise, he may not be picked.
