India lost their matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, thus ending their chances of finishing in the Top 2 of the points table. Looking at the way Rohit Sharma and co. performed in Asia Cup 2022, the selectors might make a few changes to the Indian T20I squad ahead of the home series against South Africa and Australia.

The selection committee may recall some senior players to the team. Here’s a list of four experienced players who could earn a recall.

    1. Shikhar Dhawan could be recalled to Indian T20I squad

Looking at KL Rahul’s recent struggles with the bat, the selectors might try Shikhar Dhawan once in the home series. He is the man of ICC tournaments, and since he has done well in IPL and ODI cricket, Dhawan deserves a chance to prove himself.

    2. Mohammed Shami could be recalled to Indian T20I squad

It is strange to understand why Mohammed Shami has not played a single T20I match since the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He won IPL 2022 with Gujarat Titans and has good numbers in the shortest format of the game. Shami should soon be back in the Indian squad.

    3. Kuldeep Yadav

India played with two leg-spinners in the Asia Cup match against Pakistan. They did not have variety in the spin attack. Someone like Kuldeep Yadav could spice things up. He is a left-arm wrist spinner, who had a great IPL season, and has a good combination with Yuzvendra Chahal.

    4. Washington Sundar

All-rounder Washington Sundar was once the number one Indian bowler on ICC T20I Rankings. He has scalped 25 wickets in 31 T20Is at an economy rate of 7.24. Looking at the Indian spin department’s performance in Asia Cup, Sundar might earn a recall.
