Thanks to the Indian Premier League, Team India does not have issues with the depth of the squad. Yes, some of the players are vital but the management always has an array of options to choose from if the cricketer has an injury. This way, some cricketers have played the T20 World Cup. We take a look at some of them in this article.

    1) Dinesh Karthik – Virender Sehwag (2009 T20 World Cup)

Dinesh Karthik is one of the Indians who got selected as replacement players in the T20 World Cups. The Indian opener had a shoulder injury and had to be replaced after initially being selected to the squad. His Delhi Daredevils teammate Dinesh Karthik had a good IPL and hence, was included in the team. DK is still part of the Indian T20I Team. There was a long gap but due to his form in IPL, he has earned a chance back to the squad.

    2) M Vijay – Virender Sehwag (2010 T20 World Cup)

Virender Sehwag was selected for the next T20 World Cup but yet again, he had to miss out due to the same shoulder injury. This time around, though, it was a like-to-like replacement for the veteran. M Vijay had been doing well for Chennai Super Kings and hence, deservedly got his chance. While he did make an impression in T20 cricket at the start, it was in the Test Team that Vijay eventually cemented his place in.

    3) Umesh Yadav – Praveen Kumar (2010 T20 World Cup)

Umesh Yadav is also one of the Indians who got selected as replacement players in the T20 World Cups. Praveen Kumar has had his share of injuries in his career. While he missed the 2011 World Cup due to an injury, it was a similar event a year ago. He had already taken part in two matches but due to a side strain, he had to be replaced. Umesh Yadav replaced the swing bowler.

    4) Manish Pandey – Yuvraj Singh (2016 T20 World Cup)

Yuvraj Singh twisted his ankle in of the games in the 2016 edition. Hence, Manish Pandey had to be brought in to replace him. Pandey was inexperienced then but it was the best option as he could slot into the middle-order. While he played some games later on, Pandey is now out of Team India.
