BCCI has to follow the deadline as well, and as per reports, the trio of captain Rohit Sharma, coach Rahul Dravid and selector Ajit Agarkar have been meeting regularly to finalize the squad. It is likely that the team management would have considered the IPL form as well. Here’s a look at the four Indian players who might not make it to the squad due to their poor IPL form.

    1. KL Rahul might miss the flight to T20 World Cup 2024

Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has not been able to replicate his past performances in this year’s IPL. He has continued to open instead of playing the middle-order batter’s role. With Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in better touch, Rahul might miss out.

    2. Yashasvi Jaiswal might miss the flight to T20 World Cup 2024

As mentioned above, the duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have been fantastic touch in the IPL. Even Ishan Kishan has produced some fine performances, while there have been reports of Virat Kohli being considered as an opener. Hence, Yashasvi Jaiswal could miss out.

    3. Jitesh Sharma

Known for his intent and strike rate, Jitesh Sharma has not been at his best for Punjab Kings this season. The wicketkeeper batter needs to up his game in the upcoming games. Otherwise, Dinesh Karthik might sneak into the squad again.

    4. Ravichandran Ashwin

In the last three ICC white-ball events, Ravichandran Ashwin has made a comeback out of nowhere to the Indian team. He could have done the same in 2024 as well because the pitches in West Indies and USA may help the spinners. However, his disappointing showing for Rajasthan Royals has all but closed the door on his T20I return.
