Most sixes conceded in T20I cricket

One of the aspects that bowlers take care of in T20 cricket is to avoid getting hit for sixes. The situation of the bowlers is such that even if they bowl good 20 balls, their numbers could take a turn if they concede sixes in their last four deliveries. However, that is how the T20 format is set up. On that note, in this article, we take a look at the list of four players who have conceded the most sixes in T20I cricket.

Getting hit for sixes also depends on the type of the bowler and the stage at which he bowls. While most sixes are hit at the death, in the middle-overs, it is the spinners who are most vulnerable to getting hit out of the park. If we take a look at the stats, too, the picture is on the predicted lines.

Note: The stats are as of 13th June 2022.

    4) Ish Sodhi – 92 (Matches – 66)

Ish Sodhi is a top T20 spinner that the format has seen. For a long time, he had held the No.1 position in ICC’s rankings. Although the stocks have dropped now, Ish is still an integral part of the New Zealand T20I setup. While he has changed many games with his skills, Ish has also conceded a lot of sixes. Despite that, his career economy of 8.05 is pretty decent, especially for a spinner who plays most of his cricket in New Zealand.

    3) Adil Rashid – 92 (Matches – 73)

Adil Rashid has been an integral part of the English T20I setup for a while now. He has been the go-to man for the squad in the spin department. While he mostly bowls in the middle overs, Adil has also bowled in the powerplay on many occasions. Having taken 81 wickets, Adil’s economy is still close to 7 despite getting hit for sixes often.

    2) Yuzvendra Chahal – 96 (Matches – 56)

Yuzvendra Chahal is also one of the players who have conceded the most sixes in T20I cricket. One of the strategies of Chahal is to flight the ball, lure the batter into playing a big shot and then have it caught at the boundary. This tactic has yielded him a lot of wickets. However, there is a small margin for error and hence, Yuzi has often been at the other end.

    1) Tim Southee – 99 (Matches – 92)

Tim Southee stands at No.1 on this list of players who have conceded the most sixes in T20I cricket. At the moment, Southee is the second-highest wicket-taker with 111 scalps. He has been the leader of the bowling attack for the Kiwis for the last few years. Southee bowls regularly at the death and considering he is not as quick as many other players going around, he gets hit for sixes very frequently.
