The Indian Premier League 2024 will start on Saturday. Chennai Super Kings are all set to lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. That will kick off another season of the world’s biggest T20 league. The IPL started back in 2008, and the coming season will be the 17th installment of this league.
It has been pretty impressive, and the IPL has gained popularity over the years. It was launched soon after India lifted the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa. But do you know that four players from that 2007 Indian batch will still be playing in the IPL 2024?

4. Piyush Chawla
Not many would know, but veteran Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla was also part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2007 in South Africa. He didn’t play a game because India already had Harbhajan Singh as the premier spinner. After 17 years, he is still active in the IPL. He will be playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024.
3. Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik was also part of the T20 World Cup squad for India and played four matches. Though he only scored 28 runs and was dropped later on, he was from the team that won the tournament. In the IPL 2024, he will be part of the RCB. Karthik has already announced that the coming season will be his final IPL season.

Who can forget the game-changing half-century for Rohit Sharma against South Africa when India was in a must-win situation? Rohit scored a 40-ball fifty, which helped India post a competitive total, and they eventually won. That was the first glimpse of Rohit Sharma. Now he has become a big name in cricket. However, he is not the captain for MI but will be in action in the IPL 2024.

The T20 World Cup 2007 was the first big assignment for MS Dhoni as a captain, and he certainly made history. Dhoni led the group of young players and went on to win the tournament. He became the first captain to win the T20 World Cup, and he has also led CSK to five titles and will lead them in IPL 2024.
