With the form that he is in, Rinku Singh is surely going to get a go in the Indian T20I squad. He is most likely to bat at No.5 and will operate as the finisher, thanks to his strong base against pace bowling. With him getting a spot in the squad, there could be a few other cricketers who might lose theirs. On that note, here, we take a look at four players whose chances will reduce if Rinku Singh gets a spot in the Indian T20I Team.
1) Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson is actually an option for the Indian T20I Team as a finisher either at No.5 or No.6. Unless India does not have a wicket-keeper in the other slots, Samson could find his way a bit difficult in this squad. Rinku Singh is a left-hander and this could give him a benefit in the XI, especially if there are no other left-handers. Therefore, he features on this list.
2) Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan is one of the players whose chances will reduce if Rinku Singh gets a spot in the Indian T20I Team. If you take a look at the outset, Ishan and Rinku are not competing for the same roles in the Indian Team. However, as an opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal might get a chance and in the middle-order, Tilak Varma could earn his spot. Jitesh Sharma might come in as the wicket-keeper and we could have Hardik Pandya bat at No.4 with Rinku at No.5. Therefore, Ishan might be indirectly affected by Rinku’s emergence.
3) Ravindra Jadeja
For the Indian Team in T20Is, Jaddu has been mostly good with the bat. However, in IPL 2023, he has been poor with the willow while has been special with the ball. Considering the form Axar Patel is in and Jaddu’s injury-prone nature, Axar could come in at No.7. Jaddu might find it hard to get a spot as a specialist batter because Rinku is in better form right now with the bat.
4) Deepak Hooda
Deepak Hooda is also one of the players whose chances will reduce if Rinku Singh gets a spot in the Indian T20I Team. In the last few T20 tournaments for India, Deepak Hooda has been in the team. However, due to his form in IPL 2023, he is all set to be dropped. The management has used Deepak in the role of a finisher mostly. This may not suit him and on current form, Rinku appears to be an upgrade. Hence, we have the LSG all-rounder on this list.
