Punjab Kings ended their IPL 2024 campaign on a disappointing note yesterday. Playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, the Kings failed to defend a 215-run target. It was Jitesh Sharma’s first match as IPL captain, and he got his name added to the list of captains who failed to defend a 200+ target.

It was another forgettable season for the Kings, who played a majority of the games without their skipper Shikhar Dhawan. Also, they could not get adjusted to the conditions at their new home ground in Mullanpur, which resulted in a ninth-place finish for the Kings.

The Kings were hit by several injuries and player unavailability scenarios, but they could not find a place for the following four players in any of the matches.

    1. Chris Woakes warmed the benches at Punjab Kings in IPL 2024

England all-rounder Chris Woakes has enormous experience of playing T20 cricket. However, for some reason, the Punjab-based franchise kept him on the bench for all the matches that he was available for.

    2. Prince Choudhary did not get a game for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024

Uncapped leg-spin bowler Prince Choudhary earned a deal from the Kings at the IPL 2024 Auction. However, they could not find him a place in the match squad even when Rahul Chahar struggled a bit.

    3. Vishwanath Singh

Another uncapped spinner to feature on the list is Vishwanath Singh, who received a surprising deal from the Kings. He has never played T20 cricket at the domestic level, and he warmed the benches in IPL as well.

    4. Tanay Thayagarajan

Tanay Thayagarajan is the third uncapped spinner to make his presence felt on this list. He bowls left-arm spin and is 28 years old, but he did not get a single game in the PBKS colors this season.
