Generally, the finals of the Indian Premier League take place in the final week of May. Hence, the cricketers will not get a proper amount of rest for the T20 World Cup. While some players may look to use the IPL to prepare themselves for the mega event in USA and West Indies, here are four names who might skip the Indian Premier League for T20 World Cup 2024.
1. Ben Stokes may skip IPL for T20 World Cup
Ben Stokes is known for prioritizing England a lot over IPL. He was unavailable for a lot of matches in IPL 2023 as well, which is why Chennai Super Kings will think twice before retaining him.
2. Mitchell Starc may skip IPL for T20 World Cup
Mitchell Starc is another cricketer who has prioritized international cricket over the T20 leagues. Starc last played an IPL match back in 2015. It is highly unlikely that he would take the risk of coming to IPL.
