Eight teams have already sealed their place in the competition. The eight teams to have qualified for the World Cup are India, Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, New Zealand, England and Pakistan. Quite surprisingly, four of the current Test-playing nations have failed to make it to the mega event. Here’s a list of the four teams.

    1. Sri Lanka failed to qualify for the Cricket World Cup 2023

Sri Lanka failed to finish in the Top 8 of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League 2020-23. They played 24 matches, recording only seven wins. Had they won two matches more, the islanders would have earned a direct ticket to the World Cup.

    2. West Indies failed to qualify for the Cricket World Cup 2023

West Indies have also missed out on a place in the mega event. The Caribbean team finished ninth with nine wins from 24 matches. Even one more win would have helped them avoid the Qualifiers for the mega event.

    3. Ireland

Ireland are among the newest Test members of the International Cricket Council. The Irish team recorded a win each against South Africa and England in the Super League, but they could not maintain consistency. With six wins from 22 matches, Ireland are outside the Top 8.

    4. Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe recorded a major win against Australia recently. However, they managed only six wins in 24 matches overall. As a result, they finished 12th in the Super League standings.
