BCCI has decided to bring about a big change in the way things work in Indian cricket. Last evening, the board sacked the entire selection committee as the Indian cricket team failed to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. England squashed the Men in Blue by 10 wickets in one of the most lopsided semifinals in the mega event’s history.

Soon after sacking the previous committee, the BCCI sent out details for the appointment of the new selection committee. Along with the eligibility criteria, the board also listed the new things which selectors will have to do. Here’s a list of the things listed by the board.

    1. Select the best possible team in a fair and transparent manner

The first and most important thing for the new committee will be to select the best possible team. The details mention that the committee will have to pick the squad in a fair and transparent manner so that there is no injustice with any players.

    2. Plan and prepare strong bench strength

Another big thing that the new selectors will have to do is that they will have to prepare a strong bench strength. To be fair, the previous selection committee did a decent job in this department.

    3. Attend team meetings

One of the main things is communication between coach, players, captain and selectors. In the past, there have been complaints that there has been a communication gap between coach and selectors. Such things should not repeat.

    4. Appoint captain in each format

It looks like the BCCI wants split captaincy in Indian cricket again. Previously, Virat Kohli was red-ball captain and MS Dhoni was white-ball captain, but in recent years, Virat and Rohit Sharma were all-format skippers. As per the details available, the new selection committee will have to appoint a captain in each format.
