The T20 World Cup which will be held this year will be an interesting one. A lot of prominent cricketers would be taking part in the tournament for one last time. Hence, the tournament would become more memorable if some unretired players take part in it. On that note, in this article, we take a look at four unretired players who would make the 2022 T20 WC interesting if they play for their respective nations.

While cricketing reasons are also present, it is mainly due to off-field and unspecified reasons that some cricketers are not part of their respective nations. This is despite them doing well in various T20 leagues across the globe. If the issues can be sorted out, the nations will only be strengthened by these players.

    1) Sunil Narine – West Indies

Sunil Narine last played for his country in a T20 game way back in 2019. Since then, although West Indies has struggled, Narine has not featured for them. The reasons for this are many but some of them include his issues related to the contract and the bowling action. Either party has not addressed it specifically in recent months. That said, Narine would improve the West Indian spin attack if he were to make a comeback for them.

    2) Faf du Plessis – South Africa

Faf du Plessis is one of the unretired players who would make the 2022 T20 WC interesting if they play for their respective nations. The former South African skipper quit Tests to focus on T20s. However, he has been ignored by the board. Faf is one of the elite T20 cricketers at the moment. He is also doing well and would certainly be a solid case to open the batting for South Africa. If Mark Boucher and co. can bring him back, the 2022 T20 World Cup will become more exciting.

    3) Mohammad Amir – Pakistan

The left-arm speedster announced his retirement and then took it back. A few months ago, he said he was considering an international comeback. Pakistan does have a spot for a pacer and Amir can be a good fit for it on the pitches in Australia. He and Shaheen Afridi bowling in tandem would be a treat to watch for the fans.

    4) Imran Tahir – South Africa

Imran Tahir is also one of the unretired players who would make the 2022 T20 WC interesting if they play for their respective nations. Although he is well over 40, Tahir is still active in the game. Keshav Maharaj is the second spinner in the team and at times, he turns out to be ineffective in T20Is. Keshav is also not that great with the bat to take a position in the XI. Of course, he is an important member but if South Africa can pair Tahir and Tabraiz Shamsi in the middle overs, it might be a good decision.
