The Indian cricket team will make its comeback to the international arena for the first time since March 2020 as they get ready to take on the Australian team in an away series. The Men in Blue had made history by defeating the Australian team 2-1 in the previous Border-Gavaskar Trophy, while they also registered their maiden bilateral ODI series win Down Under against the home team.

However, the Australian T20I team gave the visitors a run for their money. Since the T20 World Cup was originally scheduled to happen this year in Australia, the home side had focused a lot on their T20I side. Unfortunately, the World Cup got postponed to 2022. Still, the limited-overs series against India could benefit Australia a lot.

The IPL Auction will likely occur soon and here are the five Aussie players who could earn an IPL deal by impressing versus Virat Kohli’s men.

1.Marnus Labuschagne

Although Marnus Labuschagne is not present in the Australian T20I squad, a superb performance in ODIs and Tests might be enough for him to get his first IPL contract. Many IPL teams need a solid middle-order batsman.

Labuschagne can be a perfect fit in the current Chennai Super Kings lineup. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis could open with Suresh Raina at number three. MS Dhoni can follow Labuschagne and Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran will play the finishers’ role.

2.Sean Abbott

Anrich Nortje had an excellent IPL 2020 season in the United Arab Emirates. Apart from him, many overseas pacers had a decent season this year.

Looking at this trend, Sean Abbott could earn a contract if he impresses against India. It is noteworthy that the quick bowler played a couple of matches for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past.

3.Ashton Agar

While the spinners were not so successful as the fast bowlers in IPL 2020, the equation will likely change when the tournament returns to India. Spinners will be in high demand again.

Australian spinner Ashton Agar had a terrific T20I series against South Africa earlier this year. A similar performance versus India could help him make his IPL entry soon.

4.Matthew Wade

Despite being a part of the international squad since long, Matthew Wade has not received enough opportunities in the IPL. Delhi Capitals signed him way back in 2011.

The left-handed wicket-keeper batsman played three matches for them, scoring 22 runs at a strike rate of 66.67. Since he has played much international cricket after that season, a good performance versus India could help him return to the league. The Delhi Capitals could only sign him because Alex Carey did not have a great season.

5.Moises Henriques

Another former IPL player to feature on this list is the Portuguese all-rounder Moises Henriques. The all-rounder played 57 IPL matches in his career.

He was a part of six teams namely, the Delhi Capitals, the Mumbai Indians, the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the Kings XI Punjab. A decent performance on this tour could help him earn a bid or two in the next auction.
