ICC Rankings for batters helps the world know which are the Top 10 in-form batters in the world at the moment. The International Cricket Council prepares rankings for all three formats, namely Test cricket, One day Internationals and T20 internationals separately based on the performance of the players in those three formats. Very few batters are in the Top 10 of the ICC Rankings for two different formats.
However, in the history of the rankings, there have been five such batters who have attained more than 900 rating points in the ICC Test and ODI Rankings for batters. Here’s a list of those five names:
1. Viv Richards got 900+ rating points in ICC Test and ODI Rankings
Former West Indies batter Viv Richards attained over 900 rating points in both the formats of rankings. He is reckoned by many fans as the greatest batter in the history of international cricket.
2. Brian Lara got 900+ rating points in ICC Test and ODI Rankings
Another retired cricketer from the West Indies to feature on this list is their former captain Brian Lara. The left-handed batter troubled many top bowlers during his peak.
3. AB de Villiers
One of the two South African batters to feature on this list is AB de Villiers. The right-handed batter earned the nickname of Mr. 360 thanks to his ability to play shots all around the ground. He was one of the few players who could score 150 off 60 balls and 60 off 150 balls.
4. Hashim Amla
Another South African batter to feature on this list is Hashim Amla. The right-handed opener scored heaps of runs in the Green and Gold jersey in ODIs and the whites in Tests, thus attaining 900+ rating points in both formats.
5. Virat Kohli
The only active player to feature on this list is Virat Kohli. The star Indian batter was the epitome of consistency during his peak. He struggled for form in 2021, but in 2022/23, the Indian batter returned to form and is among the best batters in the world now.
