Team India has one of the biggest fan bases in the world of sports. The Indian cricket team’s merchandise generates massive revenue every year, and some of the biggest apparel companies in the world aim to secure the merchandise rights for the Men in Blue.
There have been some classic jerseys in Indian cricket history. The kits of 1992 World Cup, 2011 World Cup, 2019 World Cup, 2007 T20 World Cup and 2003 World Cup have a special place in the hearts of the Indian fans. However, not all kits of Indian team had a long run. Here’s a list of five cricket kits of Team India which fans might have forgotten about.
1. Team India donned an Orange kit in 2019 World Cup
India played one match against England in the group stage of the 2019 WC wearing a special orange kit. ICC urged the Indian team to move away from the blue color for a day because of the home-away reason. England also had blue kit, and so, India to wear the orange color.

2. Team India launched a kit in 2012 but never wore it
Before the 2012 T20 World Cup, Nike launched a new tricolor kit for India. It had the Indian tricolor on the shoulder, with the usual blue being the dominant color of the jersey. However, BCCI reverted to 2011 WC kit soon.

3. ‘Killer’ jersey of India
Killer became the new apparel sponsor of India in 2023. However, their contract was very short, and Adidas soon replaced them. The new designers did not make too many changes to the kit.

4. India’s yellow kit
In the 1990s, India decided to have yellow as the secondary color, and designed a jersey, where yellow almost became the dominant color. It had a touch of blue on the sides.

India opted for a uniquely designed jersey in the year 1997. The photo from their tour of Zimbabwe often amazes the fans because such a jersey having blue as dominant color has been rare in Indian cricket.
