IPL 2024 commentators list of both Star Sports and JioCinema has been released. Generally, the cricketers who have retired from all formats of cricket take up the mic in their hands. However, the demand for commentators has increased significantly after the increase in number of languages for commentary.
Also, both Star Sports and JioCinema have different set of commentators for the IPL 2024 season. As a result, the two broadcasters have even roped in a few active cricketers as commentators for the upcoming season. Here’s a list of five such names.
1. One of the English commentators in IPL 2024 – Steve Smith
Australia’s Test and ODI vice-captain Steve Smith will join the English commentary team of Star Sports. Back in 2017, Smith led Rising Pune Supergiant to the IPL Final.
2. One of the Marathi commentators in IPL 2024 – Kedar Jadhav
Kedar Jadhav, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023, is back in the commentary box. Jadhav will be in the Marathi commentary team again for JioCinema.
3. Sheldon Jackson
Former Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper Sheldon Jackson continues to be active in domestic cricket. He is one of the Gujarati commentators for JioCinema for the upcoming IPL.
4. Sachin Baby
Sachin Baby has been a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals team in IPL. The Kerala-based cricketer will be doing Malayalam commentary for JioCinema this season.
5. Hanuma Vihari
Another former Sunrisers Hyderabad player to feature on the list is Hanuma Vihari. The veteran batter will be a Telugu commentator for the JioCinema team in this season of IPL.
