MS Dhoni is one of the few cricketers in the world who has managed to play in all the 15 editions of the Indian Premier League. He was already a T20 World Cup-winning captain by the time the IPL started. In 2008, he joined the Chennai Super Kings and became their captain. Now, in 2023 also, Dhoni is the skipper of the CSK team.
Dhoni continues to be a part of the IPL as a player, but there are some players who started their international careers after him, have retired and are members of the commentary panel for the ongoing IPL 2023 season, where Dhoni is playing. Here’s a list of such five players.
1. Sreesanth made his debut after MS Dhoni
Former Indian fast bowler Sreesanth started his international career after Dhoni. Unfortunately, due to injuries and fixing scandal, Sreesanth could not have a longer career. He has now retired and works as a commentator.
2. Suresh Raina made his debut after MS Dhoni
Suresh Raina and Dhoni were the pillars of the Chennai-based franchise for quite some time. Raina played his last season in 2021, and he works as a commentator for Jio Cinema now.
3. Yusuf Pathan
Yusuf Pathan started his international career under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in the 2007 T20 World Cup Final. Pathan has retired and now works as a commentator for Star Sports.
4. Aaron Finch
Former Australian captain Aaron Finch started his international and IPL careers after Dhoni. Finch has now retired from all formats of the game and works as a commentator.
5. Pragyan Ojha
Pragyan Ojha is another cricketer who made his debut under Dhoni and is now working as a commentator. Ojha did not have a long career because of the issues with his bowling action. The left-arm spinner also worked as a commentator for SA20 a few months ago.
