The domestic core is key for an IPL team. However, the situation is such that if a player has recently played for India also, the chances of an IPL contract is not 100%.
1) Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav earned a surprise T20I comeback in 2022. However, it did not last long. Considering the Impact Player Rule is still there, he could have been useful. However, his poor show last season could have led him here.
2) Shivam Mavi was unsold in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions
Shivam Mavi is one of the cricketers who played for India in the last 3 years but went unsold in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. The youngster played for the Indian T20I Team in 2023. It is hard to believe that in the last two seasons, he did not play a single IPL game. Hence, he has gone unsold.
3) Chetan Sakariya
Injuries and bad form have been the hurdle in Sakariya’s career till now. Last season, he won the trophy with KKR but had not played a single game. Now, he is without a contract for the next season.
4) Sandeep Warrier was unsold in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions
Sandeep Warrier is also one of the cricketers who played for India in the last 3 years but went unsold in the recent Auctions. Actually, he did well last season as the replacement for Mohammed Shami at Gujarat. However, considering he is a one-dimensional cricketer, teams might not have shown interest in him.
5) Prithvi Shaw
Prithvi Shaw’s career is on the decline. Before the last Mega Auctions, he was retained. Now, he is without a contract. It would take a long road to get back to his best for the Mumbai cricketer.
