IPL 2024’s first half is done and dusted. All the teams have played a minimum of seven matches in the competition. Rajasthan Royals are at the top of the standings with six wins from seven matches. On the other side, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have played eight matches, but they have managed only one victory.
The team management of various franchises has made some questionable decisions. Interestingly, the following five players, having a salary of 1.5 crore or more have not received a single chance to showcase their talent.
1. Josh Little is yet to play a match in IPL 2024
Irish pacer Josh Little was quite impressive for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023. The left-arm speedster has a contract of INR 4.4 crore, but he is yet to receive an opportunity in the Titans’ playing XI.
2. Jayant Yadav is yet to play a match in IPL 2024
Another Gujarat Titans player to feature on the list is Jayant Yadav. The off-spinner has a salary of INR 1.7 crore, but he has only been spotted giving messages from the coaches to the other players.
3. Sherfane Rutherford
Sherfane Rutherford received a contract from 1.5 crore from the Kolkata Knight Riders. The all-rounder is a backup for Andre Russell, and since Russell is playing well, Rutherford has been on the bench.
4. Glenn Phillips
One can imagine the red hot form that SRH are in, considering that they have to bench a player like Glenn Phillips. The all-rounder has a salary of 1.5 crore, but he has been warming the benches.
5. Chris Woakes
Punjab Kings hold the penultimate position in the IPL points table right now. However, they have kept England’s experienced all-rounder Chris Woakes on the bench. Woakes has a deal worth INR 4.2 crore.
