Almost each of the 20 teams participating in the T20 WC 2024 have announced their squads for the mega event. This year, West Indies and USA will co-host the tournament for the first time in cricket history. USA will also make its T20 World Cup debut this year.
As mentioned above, all nations have named their squads. However, some of the top performers of the IPL have missed out on the ticket to the mega event. Here’s a list of five such foreign players.
1. Sunil Narine did not show interest in playing T20 WC 2024
Sunil Narine has the rare chance to end the IPL season as the Orange Cap and Purple Cap winner. He is in dream form for Kolkata Knight Riders, but he refused to take back his international retirement and play for West Indies in the T20 World Cup.
2. Jake Fraser McGurk has not been picked for T20 WC 2024
Jake Fraser McGurk has changed Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2024 fortunes with his big hits. The Australian batter has mercilessly destroyed the best bowling attacks of this IPL tournament. However, he has not been selected in the Aussie squad.
3. Faf du Plessis
Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis stands 12th on the players with the most runs in IPL 2024. He has amassed 352 runs in 11 matches for RCB, but South Africa continues to keep him out of the team.
4. Nandre Burger
Another South African cricketer to appear on this list is left-arm fast bowler Nandre Burger. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, Burger has taken six wickets in four matches. Still, he missed out on the South African T20 World Cup squad.
5. Spencer Johnson
Left-arm fast bowler Spencer Johnson has been an underrated match-winner for Gujarat Titans. Signed for a whopping price of 10 Crore INR, Johnson has scalped four wickets in five matches. He will have to wait for his chance because Mitchell Starc will be the lead left-arm fast bowler for Australia in T20 World Cup 2024.
