Former five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have an enormous fan following. The fans club of CSK is so big that the player which joins the franchise suddenly gets a lot of attention from fans and media. His social media followers increase overnight as well.
The main reason why almost every player loves playing for CSK is that the team management and wicketkeeper MS Dhoni back the players properly. In this listicle though, we will look at the five such foreign players who never earned an IPL deal after CSK let go of them.
1. Andrew Flintoff played his first and last IPL season for CSK
Legendary England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff was the joint most expensive player of the 2009 auction. Flintoff could not justify the price tag while playing for Chennai and then no franchise ever bought him at the auction.
2. Justin Kemp played his first and last IPL season for CSK
Another well-known all-rounder to feature on the list is Justin Kemp. The former South African player turned up for the Super Kings in 2010 and after that, he was never seen in the IPL again.
3. Suraj Randiv
Former Sri Lankan spinner Suraj Randiv is one of the three players from the island nation on this list. Randiv won the IPL 2011 trophy as a part of the Chennai Super Kings. However, post that season, no team offered him a deal.
4. Nuwan Kulasekara
Nuwan Kulasekara was one of the best bowlers in Sri Lankan team during his prime. Despite his ability to bowl well in powerplay and death overs, Kulasekara earned IPL contract from only one team. CSK had him in their squad for 2011 and 2012 seasons.
5. Chamara Kapugedara
All-rounder Chamara Kapugedara was a member of the Chennai squad from 2008 to 2010. He played five matches in 2008 and warmed the benches in the other two seasons. After the 2010 season, no one signed Kapugedara in the IPL.
