    All teams have named star-studded squads and high-profile coaching staffs for the mega event in Australia. Interestingly, five members of the coaching department once played for the Kolkata Knight Riders IPL franchise in their careers. Here’s a list of those five names.

    1. Umar Gul

    Afghanistan’s fast bowling coach Umar Gul was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the inaugural IPL season. Gul played six matches for the Kolkata-based franchise, scalping 12 wickets, including one four-wicket haul.

    2. Charl Langeveldt

    Charl Langeveldt played four matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders during his time as an active cricketer. He scalped eight wickets in those four games. Langeveldt is the fast-bowling coach of South Africa in T20 World Cup 2022.

    3. Mark Boucher

    South Africa’s head coach Mark Boucher has also represented the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Boucher played the last season of his IPL career for KKR in 2011, scoring six runs in four matches.

    4. Shaun Tait

    Pakistan’s fast bowling coach Shaun Tait has also been a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. The former Aussie speedster joined the team as a replacement for John Hastings in 2016.

    5. Morne Morkel

    Former South African cricket team fast bowler Morne Morkel played 29 matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders in his IPL career, including his last season in 2016. Morkel was a top performer for the Kolkata-based franchise as he scalped 32 wickets for the team. He is currently an assistant coach of Namibia.
